exile
The deepest sadness I know is exile.
Exile can come in so many forms--which makes it an ideal choice to embody sadness. In a sense, it can be applied to any type of human pain and suffering.
There is actual exile and perceived exile. They are experienced in almost exactly the same way--one no more real than the other. The depth of delusion runs great. Who is to say that people shunning me and my perception that people are shunning me are at all different?
The chasm between one and what one yearns for, yawns wide. If I have no ability to see what is offered to me, I am in exile.
